Safety Tips Home Buyers Should Look Out For.

Owning a home is one of the ultimate goals in life. Finding the perfect space is as uncompromising as is tedious. There are things prospective home buyers look out for before making a purchase. The one thing home buyers all over prioritize is SAFETY. No matter who you are and irrespective of where you fall on the social ladder, safety is a prime concern. We all would give anything to get the opportunity to make a home in a safe community – a secured place our families can live and flourish, a place we can confidently keep our valuables without fear of losing them to some rogues.

In light of this, we bring to you some safety tips home buyers look out for.

To begin with, one tip we will look at is Walkability. Walkability is a measure of how friendly an area is to walking. … Factors influencing walkability include the presence or absence and quality of footpaths, sidewalks or other pedestrian rights-of-way, traffic and road conditions, land use patterns, building accessibility, and safety, among others. In choosing an area to buy a home, prospective buyers must look out for how safe it is to walk or move around in the neighborhood during the day and night, how lit is the neighborhood during the night, can you just take leisurely stroll in your neighborhood without having to look over your shoulder?

Proximity is another safety tip house buyers should look out for. Proximity simply means nearness or closeness. In buying a house, one key component people look out for before deciding on even the area to make a purchase is how close or far the area is to their workplaces, places of worship, children’s schools, market and or city centers, etc.  Proximity does not only make life easy but also makes economic sense since you save or reduce transportation cost. Every parent wants their kids to attend a good school and college. Buying a house in close proximity to a good school or college not only makes your life easy, but it will have better potential for capital growth. Even though the house may cost a bit more in such an area, you can rest assured the resale value will be much more. In addition, the house near a school or college rents quickly and stays rented.

Preferred neighborhood is the next tip we’ll be looking at. When you are scouting for the location, you should inspect the neighborhood also. What you should find out is how family friendly the neighborhood is or otherwise. Before getting too involved in the process of buying the house, check out the neighborhood at different times of the day and night. And if possible, try to meet some of the neighbors to find more information about facilities and people living in the area. Whether you are a family oriented person or not, you don’t want to live around people who are bad influences or are involved in illegal things if you’re decent and want your peace. It is important to look for a house with friendly neighbors and a good residential feel.

The final tip is Sense of belonging. The need to belong, also known as belongingness, refers to a human emotional need to affiliate with and be accepted by members of a group. A sense of belonging is a human need, just like the need for food and shelter. Feeling that you belong is most important in seeing value in life and in coping with intensely painful emotions. In this case, you’d want to choose a place where your neighbors will welcome you into their fold. To enjoy your stay in a neighborhood, your neighbors must be friendly to you and vice versa.

Overall, these are just some safety tips home buyers look out for. “You don’t need to know the whole alphabet of Safety. The A, B, C of it will save you if you follow it: Always Be Careful.” – Colorado  School of Mines Magazine.
